Dante's "Purgatorio": A 700th-Anniversary Exploration of The Divine Comedy
This is the second of three courses on The Divine Comedy, Dante Alighieri’s spiritual and poetic epic story of the soul’s progress away from sin. In “Purgatorio” Dante turns from sin toward the light, climbing Mount Purgatory to reach the Earthly Paradise and encountering a rich gallery of sinners along the way. Associate Professor of English Nicholas Jenkins is our guide and we read “Purgatorio” in English. While these courses build upon one another, each course can be taken independently as well.
