Stanford School of Engineering
The Stanford School of Engineering seeks solutions to important global problems and educates leaders to use engineering principles, techniques, and systems to make the world a better place.
A pioneer in both professional and distance learning, the school has a long history of innovation in the provision of education beyond the Stanford campus. Five decades ago, it created the Stanford Instructional Television Network to educate engineers remotely at four Bay Area technology companies.
Today, Stanford Engineering offers a wide range of non-residential educational opportunities. These include nine accredited Stanford master’s degrees, more than 25 graduate and professional certificates, numerous nonacademic and professional online courses, and access to hundreds of individual lectures and courses for matriculating students.
Stanford Engineering faculty have created some of the world’s first MOOCs, or massively open online courses – an innovation that has significantly increased access to learning, across the planet.
